Campbell Biologiya – Genetika Bölümü

Campbell Biologiyanın Genetika Bölümü hazırdır. Təxminən 200 səhifəlik bu bölümü hazırda Azərbaycan dilində olan açıq-aşkar ən yaxşı, hətta tək fundamental genetika dərsliyi saymamaq üçün heç bir səbəb yoxdur. Bu buraxılışda, kitabın ilk 20 fəslində verilən sualların cavabları da daxil edilmişdir.

Ümumiyyətlə, Campbell Biologiyanın tərcümə işi ictimai layihə çərçivəsində, ABŞ-dakı Azerbaijan Cultural SocietyYurt Center qurumları tərəfindən təmin olunan maddi dəstəklə həyata keçirilir. İctimai istifadəyə açıq olan kitabın rəqəmsal fayllarını buradan endirmək olar. Kitabın çapı oxuyucuya aiddir. Layihə Habitat ilə Elmi Spektr qurumları arasında əməkdaşlıq işidir.

Translator Vacancy

Habitat is looking for a translator to join a team of professional translators and editors working on the translation of an academic textbook in the field of biotechnology. We offer a service contract for up to one year with the perspective of extension.

The selection is a two-stage process. Shortlisted applicants will be give a sample to translate followed by an interview of the successful ones.

Background

Habitat is a longstanding project of translating fundamental science textbooks into Azerbaijani language. Our team consisting of professional biologists with education in world-class universities and other experts has been involved in the ongoing endeavor of translation of Campbell Biology textbook in the last 4 years. Campbell Biology is the voluminous essential book of the field translated into 20 languages.

Scope of Work

  • Translation of a textbook in the field of biotechnology, comprising approximately 280,000 words. The translator is required to proceed with approximately 1500 words per working day for timely and high quality accomplishment of the project results.
  • The work will be implemented online, including the communication with the team. Occasional face to face meetings will be arranged. 
  • Service providers will use their own equipment for translation. 
  • Legal arrangement will be through the service contract. Remuneration will be upon successful, confirmed delivery of the translated text.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in translation, language studies, or in a similar field. A Masters degree in the same field is preferred. 
  • At least 3 years of consecutive experience in written translation of technical texts from English to Azerbaijani.
  • Substantial experience in translation of medical and/or biological academic texts;
  • Excellent command of Azerbaijani language;
  •  Punctuality: deadlines must be strictly followed. Delays will not be tolerated
  •  Accuracy in the translation of scientific texts
  • Tax registration in the Republic of Azerbaijan with corresponding electronic signature and bank account

Remuneration

6 qəpik per word. The total number of words: 280,000 words

Scientific Assistant Vacancy

  • Supports scientific editors in conducting research on terminologies and translation options, including review of print-only books in the local libraries published in the past 50 years that may include relevant terminologies, the translation of which are debated.
  • May occasionally translate short and simple texts in the book;
  • The work will be implemented online, including the communication with the team. Occasional face to face meetings will be arranged;
  • Service providers will use their own equipment for the service; 
  • Legal arrangement will be through the service contract. Remuneration will be upon successful, confirmed delivery of the abovementioned services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree biology, medicine, chemistry or related science fields. A Masters degree in the same field is an asset. 
  • Good command of Azerbaijani and English languages;
  •  Punctuality: deadlines must be strictly followed. Delays will not be tolerated.
  • Tax registration in the Republic of Azerbaijan with corresponding electronic signature and bank account

Remuneration

  • 4800 AZN for 8 months to be paid on a quarterly basis in return for the services delivered.

  • Front and back cover design;
  • Redesign of the pages should the Scientific Editor decide a differentiation;

  • Style integration
  • The work will be implemented online, including the communication with the team. Occasional face to face meetings will be arranged;
  • Service providers will use their own equipment for the service; 
  • Legal arrangement will be through the service contract. Remuneration will be upon successful, confirmed delivery of the abovementioned services.

Requirements

  • Experience in and advanced knowledge of working with Adobe InDesign software;
  • Experience in designing books, booklets, and pictured text;
  • Punctuality: deadlines must be strictly followed. Delays will not be tolerated.

Remuneration

10 AZN per page to be paid on a quarterly basis in return for the services delivered.
