Araz Zeyniyev

Scientific Manager and Editor

Araz Zeyniyev is a molecular microbiologist, geneticist involved in translation of Campbell Biology textbook into Azerbaijani language now for more than 3 years. See his Curriculum Vitae.

His main role in the current project is scientific editing. His responsibility also includes making decisions on science related issues of the translation, researching terminology.

Prof. Qərib Mürşüdov

Scientific Advisor

Qərib Mürşüdov (Garib Murshudov) is professor of structural biology at Cambridge University, group leader in the LMB’s Structural Studies Division and European Molecular Biology Organization member. He has kindly agreed to advise “Habitat Tərcümə” MMC in the endeavour. He will (1) advise us on scientific issues that could not be resolved by the team and (2) aid as science authority to explain and resolve issues that may arise with the financier or azerbaijani scientific community. The company plans to report to him periodically in parallel to the financier. If needed, we will compile a concise version of the report, especially issues concerning the scientific aspect of the project, in order to ease and increase the productivity of the advisor’s work.

Araz  Bağırov

Literary editor

Araz Bağırov is a historian possessing several works in the field of translating books. (See his resume here.)

Responsible for literary editing and correction, ensuring the translated and scientifically edited text is clear, readable and understandable.

Others

The team will also include one or at most two professional translators, a book designer, a biologist who is going to assist in scientific work. These staff will be determined upon future open call and selection process.

Translators

Responsible for the translation of the text and re-translation of the returned text.

Announcements will be made for the translators, the criteria of which will be developed by the team. Initially, Habitat Tərcümə MMC will be looking for qualified translators having keen interest and/or experience in biology.

Designer

  • Design of the text based on the source file provided by the original publisher of the book.
  • Front and Back cover design;
  • Redesign of the pages should the Scientific Editor decide a differentiation from the original;
  • Index development (as the referred page numbers may change)
  • Style integration

Scientific assistant

Supports Scientific Editor in:

  • Conducting research on terminologies and translation options. This includes review of the print-only books in the local libraries translated in the past 50 years that may include relevant terminologies, the translation of which are debated. 
  • Preliminary evaluation of the text by the translator, focusing on: format, word count, translation relevance and completeness
  • Translation of short and simple texts in the book.
